A flat tire has a way of happening at the worst possible time, on the way to work, in a work parking lot, or in a driveway right before you needed to leave. Flathead Mobile Tire comes to wherever the flat happened instead of making you deal with a spare, a tow, or a wait at a shop counter.

What a proper repair involves

Not every fix for a flat is created equal. A plug pushed in from the outside can get you by in a pinch, but it is not the same as a proper patch repair done from the inside of the tire, which seals the puncture and reinforces it against the inner liner. Flat tire repair starts at $80 and covers a real patch job, done right, not a quick plug and a shrug.

When a flat can and cannot be saved

Location and size of the damage decide whether a tire is a candidate for repair. A puncture in the tread area, reasonably small, away from the shoulder and sidewall, is usually repairable. Damage to the sidewall itself, a puncture too close to the edge of the tread, or a tire that has been driven on flat for any real distance, is a different story. Running flat damages the internal structure in ways a patch cannot fix, even if the outside looks okay. When a tire falls into that category, we will tell you directly rather than patch something that will not hold.

The mobile advantage on a flat

A flat does not wait for a convenient moment, and neither should the fix. Instead of changing to a spare yourself on the shoulder of US-2 or limping into a shop on a tire that is already damaged, you call, we come to you, and the repair or replacement happens on the spot. That matters more in the Flathead Valley than it might somewhere with a tire shop on every corner, since a lot of the valley is a real drive from the nearest one.

What to do if you get a flat

If it is safe to do so, get off the road and onto level ground, a driveway, a parking lot, a wide shoulder. Avoid driving any real distance on a flat tire if you can help it, since that is often what turns a repairable puncture into a tire that needs full replacement. Call or text (406) 260-9661, tell us where you are, and we will get someone out.

How much does flat tire repair cost?

Flat tire repair starts at $80. The exact cost can vary depending on the damage and where the tire is, but that is the starting point for a standard patch repair.

Can every flat be repaired?

No. A puncture in the tread, away from the sidewall and within a certain size, is usually repairable. Sidewall damage, a large puncture, or a tire that has been run flat for a while often cannot be safely patched, and we will tell you straight if that is the case.

Do you just plug tires or do a real patch?

A proper repair is patched, not just plugged from the outside. A plug alone can hold for a while but is not the standard for a repair that is meant to last.

How long does a flat repair take?

Most repairs are quick, usually done inside of an hour once we are on site, depending on where the vehicle is and how easy the damage is to get to.

What if my flat can't be repaired?

We will tell you honestly and talk through getting a replacement tire installed instead. See our new tires and installation page for how that works.
